Memory Making Mom by Jessica Smartt

Thank you Thomas Nelson for my gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.

Synopsis from Goodreads: What’s the solution to gaining the balanced, meaningful life you desire with your family? Create traditions that bring joy and significance.Popular “Smartter Each Day” blogger and mom of three, Jessica Smartt explains why memory-making is the puzzle piece that today’s families are longing for. She highlights ten tradition-gifts kids need most, including a rich resource of two hundred–plus unique traditions. She also offers practical encouragement to modern parents to keep on adventuring—even when they are fighting distractions, are on a budget, and exhausted.

Sometimes life gets crazy and messy and things go unplanned, but there’s beauty in mess if we spend the time to look for it. While social media was broken last week, I made sure to make time for the things that matter and realized I need to do that WAY more often! I love this book in the fact that it gives you so many ideas for making lasting memories with families of kids of all ages. It’s not in a Pinterest-style writing as in its things that can be accomplished and turn out just the way you dreamed it would. The only thing that I wish it had was pictures or diagrams of finished products just to make the book more user-friendly. It would make it easier to pick up and read certain sections. It’s a little hard to do that when it’s written like a normal chapter nonfiction book. What are some of your greatest family memories?
