Book Blurb: As a boy, Malik watched an army of religious zealots swarm his home town, slaughtering his people and running his beloved grandfather through with a black sword. Nine years later, Malik still believes there’s peace…somewhere. At least that’s what he tells himself as his body is ripped apart by whips at a conversion camp. That’s what his best friend whispers as he frantically creates new force technology and jetpacks to rescue Malik. Yet when war bursts through the skies and the sky troopers, assassins, and heroes fall, when the world comes crashing down, Malik Zzoha stands amidst the sands to lead a band of friends and revolutionaries to face his tyrannical, zealot father, determined to free the people he loves.

A little bit about the author:

Onto the book: On a drizzly August morning, the inhabitants of the hill town of Sanover, Himachal Pradesh, wake up to the shocking news of the murder of the exquisite, secretive, malicious, and thoroughly immoral Devika Singh. As Superintendent of Police Vishwanath Sharma begins to sift through the hidden secrets of Devika Singh’s life, it becomes evident that everyone who knew her seems to have a clear-cut motive for killing her. Faced with the investigation of a crime that appears to have as many suspects as there are motives, Vishwanath Sharma probes the sinister web spun around a tangle of lies and deception.

I’m a huge fan of mystery novels, if you haven’t noticed already, so I was quite thrilled to pick this book up. Neena is an extremely talented writer. The story flowed so nicely with the descriptions of emotions and locations being so intricate. There’s a little thought that goes into this book when you read it so it’s not an easy pick-up read for pleasure. The names took me a bit to get used to only because I’m not used to reading names from Indian culture. I throughly enjoyed it through the end as it kept me on the edge of my seat.

4/5 Stars

1-1

I’m happy to announce that I am participating in a Digital Reads Blog Tour! Today, I am hosting Daniel Daniels and the World’s Worst Zoo by Robbie Yates. Since having a little one, I have been diving back into children’s books. This is pretty adorable!

Book Synopsis: Daniel Daniels spends most of his time doing one of two things:

  1. Avoiding the school bully, or
  2. Hanging out with his animal friends.

Unfortunately, Daniel’s animal friends all live at The World’s Worst Zoo, run by the cruel and crabby Mr Gregory. One day, an unfortunate incident with some ointment at the zoo leaves Daniel with a few special tricks up his sleeve‌—‌tricks that he can use to save the animals, and teach Mr Gregory a lesson. Curious, witty and sweet, this adventurous chapter book will charm and thrill the young and the young-at-heart!

Haven’t heard of Robbie Yates? He is an author based in the vibrant city of Melbourne, Australia. He enjoys the crunch of autumn leaves, and eating tasty snacks from his childhood. In his free time, Robbie likes to read the stories of Roald Dahl, Paul Jennings and J.K. Rowling.
