If you can’t tell from my blog, I am obsessed with the Twilight Zone. As I patiently await the new reboot of the show, I’ve been catching up on episodes of Black Mirror.
If you aren’t familiar with it, Black Mirror is a Netflix series that is rendered as a sci-fi anthology based out of the UK. It’s dark, twisted, full of high-tech discoveries, and wicked cool. I think the brains behind this show are incredibly talented and I wanted to learn more.
Crown Publishing was wonderful to me and sent me a free copy of “Inside Black Mirror” to fulfill my dreams. It’s an in-depth look at each episode of Black Mirror that exists today, plus quotes from the actors and directors. To show you more, I will narrow in on my favorite episode, “USS Callister”.
USS Callister was “mirrored” off Star Trek. Obviously, I was completely enthralled by it (hence the blog name). The segment in the book did an amazing job at talking about the reasoning behind the episode, about the Star Trek fans that helped create it, the clothing, the set design, and technology used. It’s captivating and amazing to see how much work goes into just one episode.
Needless to say, if you are a fan of Black Mirror, this is a MUST HAVE for you!
