I’m not going to lie…my first reason for picking up this book was that my daughter’s name is Hazel. No shame there! I also have never read a book by Christina Lauren (two writers, both their first name).
Thank you Gallery Books for sending me a copy in exchange for my review.
Josh and Hazel have had multiple encounters in college. Honestly, every encounter they’ve had has been quite awkward. Both think highly of each other’s looks, but the personalities just don’t seem to clash. Flash forward a few years when Hazel finds out that her adult best friend Emily is Josh’s sister. Now they’re interacting again and things still seem to be the same, but is their relationship coming together just at the right time for the two of them? Are they just better off as friends or not interacting with each other at all?
This was such a lovely read. I freaking loved these characters so so much! I wish I was in their friend group. It’s fun, flirty, adventerous, and has the most perfect ending. Hazel and Josh just work so well together in terms of their interactions with one another. It’s so cute and awkward, I love it! This is a wonderful contemporary romance novel that is not over the top in the slightest. I’m basically running out today and getting all of their other books now.
