The Banker’s Wife by Cristina Alger

I feel like everyone is talking about this book and I just had to get my hands on it!

The Bankers Wife comes from characters derived from Cristina’s first book – The Darlings. This book has two separate stories that occur simultaneously and end up mashing together. The first story is about Annabel. She just found out that her husband, who works for the Swiss United investment bank, has been killed in a plane crash. She was unaware of him ever supposed to travel on that plane. Now she is left tracing clues to figure out what kind of mess her husband was in. The other story is about Marina. She has got big things going for her – a great journalism job, and a fiancé who’s father is about to run for president. Unfortunately, she gets the terrible news that a close coworker of hers has died. She starts to delve into details of his death, which leads to information dangerous information about the Swiss United investment bank. Does Marina have information that may help Annabel? Is anyone safe with these deep dark secrets?

Honestly, I know nothing about the financial world and was worried I would get lost in this story. That wasn’t the case. It’s such a fast-paced thriller! It wasn’t a story I would’ve normally picked up, but the suspense was captivating. The two stories flow so well together. Each chapter ends with a jaw-dropping event that keeps you coming back for more. I enjoyed the different location settings – it was almost as if I was on vacation just reading it. A perfect summer read! Honestly, this would be an amazing movie! You’re going to want to get your hands on this one because everyone is going to be reading it on the beach this summer.
